Requirements for any further works have to be agreed by regulators such as the local authority or environment agency, it is then usual to formalise the agreed process in a remediation method statement (RMS). This document details the method needed to make the site suitable for its proposed end use.
The RMS can be used to convey the requirements for the site to third parties e.g. ground workers, to ensure that all parties are working to the same specification. The RMS is issued to the regulatory authorities to gain their written approval prior to commencement of any remedial works.
