Plate Bearing Tests

Plate bearing tests are an in situ site test to determine the strength of shallow soils, usually after they have been placed as part of an earthworks scheme. This involves installing a plate of known dimensions against a load, usually the underside of a track-driven excavator and recording the deformation.
